Michael and I were on Oahu yesterday for our meeting with Dr. Morita (Ped. Neurosurgeon). We were hoping for a few more "defintes", but the reality is setting in more. The Dr. reviewed the Fetal MRI with us, and explained a little bit about the surgury he will do to "close the vertibrae", so it does not become infected. He is concerned about the amount of fluid on the brain, but will want to do a head ultrasound/testing after baby is born to decide whether or not to place the "shunt" in the brain during the same operation. (Surgury will be within 24-48 hrs of birth)

As far as the extent of physical and brain damage, he is not able to tell us anything until the baby is born. The science of how the "babys development" is while in utero does show that there will be bladder/bowel issues, and muscels that will not function because of how the development of the nervous system/muscels work. To what degree - we wont know.

So obviously God wants to keep our hearts very close to HIS; As HE is the only one who KNOWS all. We covet your prayers, as we contiue to ask God's healing touch and hand be on our son. And that we will be able to rest in God's soverignty during this whole unknown time. His Grace is sufficient!

Dear Ciara & Michael,

I will keep your baby in my prayers. I have to admit that reading your post made ME anxious :) and I can only imagine all that must be going through your minds, so I pray that the Lord's peace will envelope you both. Lord, help us all to keep our hearts and minds focused on the fact that you have a good plan for this baby's life, and You, Lord, are not taken by surprise by any of this. Thank you, Lord, for overseeing every detail as this baby's precious body is being knit together in Ciara's womb.

I love you guys!

Sweet little baby boy Woodard... Though his little parts may not be working just right, he has the best mommy and daddy in the whole world, the most loving extended family, and a community that is already bonded to him. He is already so loved and nurtured, even before we've laid an eye on him. We continue to pray for comfort and encouragement for you, and that God will continue to guide you thru all that lies ahead. We love you and surround you with our hugs, our hopes and our prayers.
